US FTC warns 13 property management software providers of competition concerns
( December 9, 2025, 17:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Federal Trade Commission sent letters to 13 unnamed property management software providers warning them to not hinder the ability of rental property managers and owners to accurately advertise total monthly rental prices "inclusive of all mandatory fees," and that they could be unlawfully creating consumer harm and harm to competition if they are doing so. "If your company is currently engaged in acts or practices that could be in violation of the FTC Act or other rules and statutes enforced by the FTC, I strongly encourage you to discontinue the practices immediately and to notify relevant employees of the discontinuance," FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection Director Christopher Mufarrige said in a letter attached the commission's statement. Where property management software programs do not accurately display complete pricing information across websites hosted on their platforms, or where they restrict property owners' and managers' ability to aggregate or convey accurate cost information to consumers on third-party websites, they may violate the law, the letter said.Full statement follows.
