In Brief

Aegean Petróleo, the Brazilian unit of a Greek fuel shipping group targeted in the "Lava Jato" corruption investigation, has requested that a federal court lift an asset freeze imposed in August. Aegean Petróleo had nearly 3.35 million reais ($1.08 million) blocked by a court order. Subsidiaries of Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. are alleged to have paid middlemen who in turn bribed officials of state-controlled oil giant Petróleo Brasileiro to help secure shipping contracts.
