Recent disclosures linking US asphalt trader Sargeant Marine to Brazil's "Lava Jato" bribery scandal involving state-run Petróleo Brasileiro prompted a statement from Harry Sargeant III disclaiming any links to the company and pointing out that the company is controlled and operated by his father and brothers. Sargeant's disclaimer notwithstanding, a series of legal disputes over the last 10 years paint a picture of the former Marine pilot and Republican fundraiser as a man ready to fish in troubled waters when there is a deal on the table.
