Comment: UK insurers need special treatment in Brexit talks for legacy businesses

If Brexit negotiations turn sour, UK-based insurers will have to transfer contracts that remain in force to units operating out of the EU. This process could take a long time to complete and come at a hefty cost for companies and policyholders. Offering the insurance industry the same special treatment accorded to goods such as cars and food, could help the industry navigate this turbulent transition.
