No 'rush to penalize' companies that struggle to adapt to GDPR, French data regulator says

National data-protection watchdogs across Europe will give companies leeway as they get to grips with the EU's new privacy law coming into effect on May 25, France's chief data regulator Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin said today. Regulators will be able to impose hefty fines but will only do so in exceptional cases while companies are feeling their away around the new rules, she said.
